Sustainable Concepts Green Team Butt Drive

Daily | 10am-5pm | Sustainable Concepts Booth just southwest of Soulshine

This year at Summer Camp, Sustainable Concepts GT will be collecting and recycling those pesky cigarette butts. That’s right, now you can recycle your extinguished cigarette butts, and it doesn’t stop there! You can also recycle the ash, empty packs, cellophane wrapping and if you “roll your own”, the tobacco punches. Participating in this completes one item for the Make a Difference Programs, Scavenger Hunt at Summer Camp. It also get you a Go Green Raffle Ticket, entry to this gets you a chance to win great prize packs! How can you participate you ask? Bring to our booth by the Soulshine Tent at Summer Camp, a 12oz cup equivalent of sorted extinguished butts (ash may be included) or Approx 10 pieces of either Pack’s and Cellophane’s or Rollie Pouches. We ask that everything be as sorted as possible. After that we will package them all up and Sustainable Concepts GT sends them of to be processed, where they will be weighed and recycled into a variety of industrial products, such as plastic pallets, and any remaining tobacco will be re-worked into tobacco composting. Last year, we collected 60,000 butts – Help us continue reduce waste and pollution this year!

Cuddles for Kids Stuffed Animal Drive

Daily | 10am-5pm | Cuddles for Kids Booth just southwest of Soulshine

Cuddles for Kids will be asking for donations of new stuffed animals, or fuzzy friends, for children in need of a hug throughout Central Illinois who are trying to heal, be brave and patient during uncertainty. We ask that you donate new stuffed animals with the tags still attached. Whether the child is sick and hospitalized, in a children’s home, a victim of a house fire or has been through a natural disaster, stuffed animals give these sweet children not only a smile but a friend, and a token of comfort. Cuddles for Kids is a cause started by Taylor Larson, a former high school student at IVC, located in Chillicothe, IL, who was hospitalized for over 2 weeks due to a serious appendix rupture that led to multiple surgeries and a long recovery. A local radio station delivered teddy bears to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois where Taylor was being treated, and she received what she said was, “the brightest moment of her stay.” A moment that will now change the lives of thousands of other children just like herself who are trying to heal, be brave and patient during uncertainty. With your support Cuddles for Kids and Taylor Larson can continue to spread comfort to children.
